WhatsApp chatbot has become the ubiquitous conversational tool, embraced by clients and brands alike, whether it is to send WhatsApp notifications or to interact with new or existing customers.

Since WhatsApp is not abused like SMS or Email, WhatsApp Notifications ensure higher engagements and ROI.

### [🤝](https://emojipedia.org/handshake/#:~:text=Emoji%20Meaning,greeting%20between%20friends%20or%20associates.\&text=Handshake%20was%20approved%20as%20part,to%20Emoji%203.0%20in%202016.)  Engage Customers

### [💁](https://emojipedia.org/person-tipping-hand/) Customer Support on WhatsApp

To get their queries resolved faster, customers worldwide prefer to chat with a virtual assistant. And WhatsApp Chatbot is the most popular way to talk to friends and businesses alike.

### ⤴️ Conversational Ads on WhatsApp

Now, drive your Ad traffic to WhatsApp directly to capture verified lead information. Using AI-Powered chatbot instantly engage, qualify and connect them to your salespeople.&#x20;

### 👥  Multiple Agents

Normal WhatsApp only allows one device to access a WhatsApp account at a time. You cannot let multiple people work on different chat sessions at a time. But with WhatsApp Business API, you may have multiple agents answering customer questions and inquiries with your single central number. To scale the support staff, you don't have to handle several numbers and you can now cater to 24x7 requests or have agents solving them at the same time

## How WhatsApp Business API works

WhatsApp is very cautious about its users not getting spammed by businesses. So, they have ensured strict checks and policies.&#x20;

#### Access to WhatsApp API

To keep their automation service spam-free, they have not opened their API access directly to everyone. We need to apply and request access to WhatsApp API. Don't worry, we will help you with this process. You just need to submit [this form here](https://docs.google.com/forms/u/3/d/e/1FAIpQLSc-K6IIO6mpfxg2FuQhztl_a9WqUM8dbWuEN-i2Ttsg0pn6rg/viewform?urp=gmail_link\&gxids=7628).&#x20;

#### Types of WhatsApp Messages

WhatsApp Business API has two kinds of messages

1. **Session Messages** - Whenever a user messages a business on their WhatsApp number, WhatsApp considers that as the start of a session. A messaging session starts when a user sends your WhatsApp number a message and lasts for 24 hours from the last received message. Session messages do not need to follow a template. During this session, any and all messages exchanged are called *Session Messages*.
2. **Template Messages** - Outbound messages sent via WhatsApp Business API outside of the session message window are called *Template Messages*. These template messages need to follow one of the pre-approved templates. These are generally unsolicited transactional messages (delivery alerts, appointment reminders, etc.) sent to users who have opted in to receive messages from you.

{% hint style="info" %}
Template Messages can only be sent if they match the Approved Templates. If you wish to send any kind of message outside the 24-hour Session Window, you need to get your templates approved first. Our team will help you with template approval.
{% endhint %}

#### User Optin needed for Template Messages

WhatsApp mandates that a business needs to obtain the user opt-in before sending Template messages to them. Session messages, however, can be sent without opt-in while the session is active.

{% endhint %}

To deploy specific playbook on any page of your website you have to configure that url on playbook configure section otherwise **default playbook** will be triggered on every page.

For more advanced options see our [documentation](/integrations/wordpress-integration)

**Option 2:** You have another option to deploy a web playbook by simply playbook landing page url.

![Playbook deployment link](/files/-LvnqsMKY0osb_ObTqvz)

Here are a few ways playbook conversational landing page url can be used:

1. Drive ad traffic to custom landing page with your company's branding
2. Have a more focused conversations with your site visitors by making your bot the center of attention
3. Share a self-hosted landing page via email, SMS, Twitter, or Facebook!

# Nodes

A node is a section of logic which controls what message should be pushed to visitor. IntelliTicks comes with a variety of nodes which will help you create engaging conversations.

### Templatization of the text

In the text of above nodes we support templatization to personalize the text. You can use enclose fields of `user` object in `{{ }}` and our system will fill the value of enclosed variables in before sending message to each user. Below are some of the examples on how to use it.

1. {{name}} to use name of user, if user has entered it already in the chat earlier. For example in the text node you can use: Hi {{name}}, what are you looking for?
2. {{city}} to use city(based on IP address). For example: Hi {{name}}, do you live in {{city}}?
3. To use any profile field(eg product) which was saved using "save as profile field" action use {{profile.product}}. For example: Hi {{name}}, are you looking for {{profile.product}}
4. To use temporary attributed(eg plan) which was saved using "save as temporary variable" action, use {{context.plan}}.

#### User Object

Below is the complete `user` object which contains all of the supported fields.

```
{
    name:'',//name of user if entered via form node
    email: '',//email of user if entered via form node
    phone: '',//phone of user if entered via form node
    ip: '',//IP address of user
    city: '',//City of user based on IP
    region: '',//Region/state of user based on IP
    country: '',//Country of user based on IP
    country_code: '',//2 letter ISO country code based on IP
    stage: '',//Lead Stage of user such as Lead, Engaged
    visitor_number: '',//Visitor number of user
    visit_count: '',//Number of times user visited your website
    conv_start_page: '',//URL of the page where chat was started
    curr_page: '',//Current URL(from where last message was sent)
    referrer: '', //Referrer contains the address of the previous web page from which a link to the landing page was followed
    landing_page: '',//URL of the page where user came for the first time
    profile: {
        //any of the custom fields which saved using action "set profile attribute" or "save to profile attribute"
    },
    tags:[],//tags of user
    context:{
        //any of the temp variables which saved to temporary variables using actions
    },
    external: {
        hubspot_id: '',//hubspot lead id of integration is on
        zoho_id: '',//zoho lead id if integration is on
        leadsquared_id: '',//leadsquared lead if integration is on
        leadsquared_client_id: '',//leadsquared id from browser cookie if integration is on
        googleanalytics_id: ''//ga id of user from browser cookie if integration is on
    }
# Add and Send Data
# Text
A  text node is a simple node to show a message to the use. It looks like this
![](/files/-LXNfySqKUeDGCy5V71I)
### Fields
* **Text Message** (required) - The message that needs to be pushed to the user.
## Can I wait after inserting a Text node?
No a **Text** node does not wait. It will execute and the flow will start executing the next node. If there is need, use a **User Input/Wait** node as the next node of Text node to simulate a wait.
# Image
An Image node is used to provide an image with a text message.. It looks like this
![](/files/-LXNhLJp26nHzQtPW4av)
### Fields
* **Text Message** - The message that is displayed before the image
* **Image** (required) - Image to the displayed
## Can I wait after inserting an Image node?
No an **Image** node does not wait. It will execute and the flow will start executing the next node. If there is need, use a [**Wait**](/ai-builder/nodes/additional/user-input-wait) node as the next node of Image node to simulate a wait.
# Links
A Link node is used to provide **Call-to-Action** buttons to the user.
![](/files/-MBbiLFumWRaRRthnZGV)
Links can be of many types
* A simple URL
* Click-to-Email
* Click-to-WhatsApp
* Click-to-phone
* Click-to-launch-a-playbook.
### Fields
* **Text Message** - The message that needs to be pushed to the user.
* **Link Type** (required) - Link that needs to be shown and its data
# Youtube
Youtube node is used to show the user a YouTube video in the chat-bot.
![](/files/-MBbhi_FMiT44ZYUflDx)
### Fields
* **Text** - The message that needs to be pushed to the user.
* **Youtube URL** (required) - URL of the youtube video that needs to be shown to the user.
# Gallery
A Gallery node is use to create a horizontally scrollable carousel of generic card templates. It look likes this.
![Gallery message](/files/-M4y3TafJe0f2x3vx0qm)
Gallery is made up of the card elements and card element is a simple structured message that includes a title, subtitle, image, and up to three buttons.
### Fields
* **Card Element** (required) - The card that needs to be pushed to the gallery message.
```javascript
{
  "title": "<card title>", //required
  "subtitle": "<card subtitle>",
  "image_url": "<card img url>",
  "buttons": ["<LINK_NODE_OBJECT>",...] //array of links node
}
```
### Best Practices <a href="#best_practices" id="best_practices"></a>
:white\_check\_mark:Use for messages with a consistent information hierarchy (e.g., product or article previews, weather forecasts).
:white\_check\_mark:Use the correct aspect ratio for your image. Photos in the card template that aren't 1.91:1 will be scaled or cropped. (recommended image size 240 \* 140 pixels)
:x:Don’t use if your message doesn't have structured information or require hierarchy.
:x:Don't use if you need people to be able to zoom your image to full screen.
# Dynamic Node
The **Dynamic Node** is used to create dynamic nodes based on some logic written in JavaScript.
{% hint style="warning" %}
This is an advanced node. You need have the knowledge of Javascript to use this node.
{% endhint %}
You need to write body of a function which takes user as parameter and returns list of nodes or actions as a response. Below is the format of function.
```javascript
function(user) {
    //your logic goes here
    return {
        nodes:[]
    };
}
```
You need to write only body of the function. To refer to the complete user object with all of the fields [please check go to this link](/ai-builder/nodes#user-object).
the function should return nodes in required JSON format. Below is the format of json for each type of nodes. Please note that all nodes are not supported here. Below are nodes which are supported.
# Collect User Data
# Quick Reply
A Quick Reply is like a multiple choice question with one correct answer. The options (or choices) are shown as clickable buttons.
![](/files/-LXNiuMJKpfxD6ogmddv)
### Fields
* **Text Message** - The message that is displayed before the options
* **Options** - List of options that will be shown along with the text message
### Options Display Mode
There are three type of modes available
* Horizontal (default)&#x20;
![](/files/-LXNiuMJKpfxD6ogmddv)
* Vertical&#x20;
![](/files/-LXNm3hKuLfytg4zpBx9)
* Dropdown (use it if the list of options is very long)
![](/files/-LXNwP0LrUm6OfS01D6j)
### Actions&#x20;
Three types of Actions are available
* **Actions on Entry** - These Actions are executed as soon as the Quick Reply node is reached during a conversation.
* **Actions on Response** - These Actions are executed after the response is received from the end visitor. You can use these to save the choices made by visitor in their profile attributes.&#x20;
* **Actions on Quick Response** - If you click and expand any of the options provided, under the expanded panel you will see there are Actions on Quick Response. These actions are specifically tied to the option you have chosen. So you can use these to do perform different actions on different options chosen by the visitor.&#x20;
![](/files/-LXNkHapgvLFHNEnU7o4)
### Timeout
By default, it is set to "**Waits forever**" and the conversation is stuck until the user provides any response. You can also set a fixed timeout. If you have set a fixed timeout, the conversation will move forward after the specified timeout without waiting for user's response.&#x20;
## Can I have different messages on different options in a Quick Reply?
No a **Quick Reply** has a linear conversational flow. The sequence of messages will be same for every option chosen via a Quick Reply. You can either use a **Quick Reply (with branches)** node or you can use advanced nodes like Custom Nodes, Conditional Node etc to simulate a different behavior with each option.
<br>
# Form
A form is used to create a small incremental form for information collection. It is incremental in nature which means if the form needs to collect multiple attributes, it will first ask only one attribute and will wait for the visitor's response. Only when the visitor has provided the response, it will ask the next question.
![](/files/-LXO2Em3o43KSwHqw1l_)
### Fields
* **Text before Question** - The message that is displayed before form questions appear
* **Questions** - List of questions that will be asked as a part of this form
* **Text after Question** - The message is displayed after all the Form questions are answered.
### Questions
Questions are various attributes you can collect in a Form style input.&#x20;
#### Types of Questions
1. **Email** - Collects Email and sets it as the email of the visitor
2. **Name** - Collects Name and sets it as the name of the visitor
3. **Phone** - Collects phone number and sets it as the phone of the visitor
4. **Text** - Simulates a multi-line text input
5. **Regex** - This is an advanced option. It is a single input line text box and you can use JavaScript's Regex expression to check the validity of the response before accepting it.&#x20;
#### Fields in a Question&#x20;
* **Text** - It is simply the heading of the question. Whatever you add here will be shown above the input box.
![](/files/-LXO7n27mFGNIcwlmrnS)
* **Fail Msg** - It is the message displayed when the visitor's response is not valid as shown below
![](/files/-LXO9ZdZW02814zJI37M)
* **Validation** - (only available in Regex type Question). It is the regex expression against which the validation is done.&#x20;
  * Some commonly used expression are
    * To accept any kind of input use - `.*`
    * To accept only numbers use - `\d+`
    * To accept alphanumeric input use - `\w`&#x20;
  * Here is the guide to create regular expressions - [click here](< https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Guide/Regular_Expressions>)&#x20;
{% hint style="info" %}
If there is a **Form** node with attributes like Email/ Phone/ Name and if any of such attribute is already captured during some other conversation, the question for that known attribute is skipped. If all the questions are skipped, the entire Form node along with Text before Question & Text after Question is skipped.
{% endhint %}
### Actions&#x20;
Two types of Actions are available
* **Actions on Entry** - These Actions are executed as soon as the Form node is reached during a conversation.
* **Actions on Question** - If you click and expand any of the Question, under the expanded panel you will see there are Actions on Question. These actions are specifically tied to the Question you have chosen. So you can use these to do perform different actions on different questions answered by the visitor.&#x20;
![](/files/-LXO4qz_y4gyf428DJmP)
&#x20;
# Datepicker
The Datepicker node is used to collect a date input from the visitor.
![](/files/-LXODIa-xdvxIaImvuEM)
### Fields
* **Text Message** - The message that is displayed for the date selection input
* **Allow old dates** - If Yes, allows picking dates older than today
### Actions&#x20;
Two types of Actions are available
* **Actions on Entry** - These Actions are executed as soon as the DatePicker node is reached during a conversation.
* **Actions on Response** - These Actions are executed after the date response is received from the end visitor.&#x20;
# Web View
### Web Webview
Webview allows you to create complex UI using custom html code. Since webview communicates with chatbot to exchange data, just any URL would not work until relevant code has been added to establish communication.
To create a webview the most important parameter is template URL. It can be URL of any webpage. There must be few scripts defined in the webpage for the following
1. Send a ready event to parent when webview is ready, so that bot can remove loader and show the webview.
2. Listen to postMessage for msgId(and optional data) and save it.
3. When interaction with webview is over, postMessage to parent along with msgId and option data.
Below is the sample script to demonstrate the same.
{% hint style="info" %}
Please paste the script given below to your html so that loader is removed and webview is shown.
{% endhint %}
```javascript
var msgId = null, body = null;
function onPostMessage(event) {
    if (!event || !event.data || !event.data.msgId) return; //required. check for msgId
    msgId = event.data.msgId;
    if (event.data.body) {
        try {
            body = JSON.parse(event.data.body);//optional body to be passed from AI builder.
            //this body can be used anywhere in the code later
        } catch(error){
            console.error('Error on parsing body data', error);
        }
    }
}
window.addEventListener('message', onPostMessage);
parent.postMessage({ type: "webview.frame.ready" }, '*');//trigger this whenever webview is ready to be displayed

//call this function with text(to be shown in chat) along with optional data
function closeFrame(text, data) {
    //data passed here will be available as a res param in the Res function of webview.
		parent.postMessage({ type: "webview", jsonData: JSON.stringify(data || {}), msgId: msgId, text: text }, '*');
}
```
{% hint style="danger" %}
You need to call `closeFrame` function to close the webview.
{% endhint %}
You can also check out sample webview URL and use it in the webview to see how it work. <http://webview.intelliticks.com/common/datepicker.html>
Check the source of above URL to understand it more.
### Facebook Webview
The Messenger Platform allows you to open a standard webview, where you can load webpages inside Messenger. This lets you offer experiences and features that might be difficult to offer with message bubbles, such as picking products to buy, seats to book, or dates to reserve.
#### **Setting Webview Template URL (Required Domain Whitelisting)**
To display a webpage  in the Messenger webview you must whitelist the domain, including sub-domain, in the whitelisted\_domains property of your page Messenger Profile. This ensures that only trusted domains have access to user and node information available via SDK functions.
For more information on whitelisting domains, see the [`whitelisted_domains reference`](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/messenger-platform/reference/messenger-profile-api/domain-whitelisting)
{% hint style="info" %}
If you facing any issue on whitelisting domains please contact at <support@intelliticks.com>
{% endhint %}
#### Setting Webview Height
You can specify the height of the webview when it opens in messenger by setting the **Webview Display Mode** property when configuring webview node. The following sizes are supported:
* COMPACT
* TALL
* FULL
![facebook webview](/files/-M6YEFFTWI_kQLLOUDgG)
#### Adding the IntelliTicks Messenger Extensions SDK
#### 1. Include the Messenger Extensions JS SDK
Add the Messenger Extensions Javascript SDK to the page being loaded in the webview with the code below. You should insert it directly after the opening body tag on each page you want to load it:
```javascript
<script src="//webview.intelliticks.com/messenger/common/iticks_fb.js"></script>
```
#### 2. Wait for the SDK load event
**`iticksInit`** will be called when the IntelliTicks Messenger Extensions JS SDK is done loading. You can use this as a trigger to call other functions available in the SDK.
```javascript
window.addEventListener('iticksInit', async function () {
  // the IntelliTicks Messenger Extensions JS SDK is done loading
})
```
{% hint style="info" %}
**`IticksMessengerExtensions`** and its methods are available in the Messenger webview when you include the IntelliTicks Messenger Extensions JS SDK.
{% endhint %}
| **Function**                | **Description**                                                 |
| --------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **`getWebviewData()`**      | Retrieve node Req Body for  the person that opened the webview. |
| **`sendWebviewData()`**     | Send data back for the person that engage with webview.         |
| **`requestCloseBrowser()`** | Close the webview and return to the Messenger conversation.     |
#### Get Webview Req Body Data
The **`getWebviewData()`** method retrieves **Req Body** information of the node. It is useful for creating interactive group experiences, as well as restricting any content that was intended to be shared only to a certain thread.
```javascript
const response = await IticksMessengerExtensions.getWebviewData();
if(response.isValid) {
    const data = response.data; // Req Body data
} else {
    // Error on getting webview data
}
```
#### Send Webview Data
The **`getWebviewData(text, jsonData)`** method send back data to conversation and help to proceed flow further.
```javascript
const response = await IticksMessengerExtensions.sendWebviewData(text, jsonData);
if(response.isValid) {
    // Data sent successfully
} else {
    // Error on sending webview data
}
```
#### Closing the Webview
It is a good idea to close the webview after a transaction is complete, especially if actions the user took will result in a message in the thread. This can be done with the IntelliTicks Messenger Extensions SDK just call&#x20;
```javascript
IticksMessengerExtensions.requestCloseBrowser();
```
#### Setting Webview Title
As with any webpage, the \<title> tag sets the text displayed in the title bar for the webview.
```javascript
<html>
  <head>
    <title>My Awesome Webview</title>
  </head>
   ...
</html>
```
# Payment
**Payment node** is used to accept payment from the users
![](/files/-MCpT4VnGQS42Aba4a46)
# Quick Reply (with branches)
A **Quick Reply (with branches)** is like a multiple choice question with one correct answer. The options (or choices) are shown as clickable buttons.
![](/files/-LXNiuMJKpfxD6ogmddv)
{% hint style="info" %}
Difference between the [Quick Reply](/ai-builder/nodes/collect-user-data/quick-reply) & [Quick Reply (with branches)](/ai-builder/nodes/collect-user-data/quick-reply-with-branches) is that the normal Quick Reply has a linear conversational flow. So after the execution of normal Quick Reply the flow proceeds to the next node. However for Quick Reply (with branches), each option has a different conversational flow.&#x20;
Example - For a Yes/No kind of question, A **Quick-Reply with branches)** is a better choice as a person saying "Yes" will have a different sequence of messages and another person saying "No" will have different.&#x20;
{% endhint %}
### Fields
* **Text Message** - The message that is displayed before the options
* **Options** - List of options that will be shown along with the text message
### Options Display Mode
There are two type of modes available
* Horizontal (default)&#x20;
![](/files/-LXNiuMJKpfxD6ogmddv)
* Vertical&#x20;
![](/files/-LXNm3hKuLfytg4zpBx9)
### Actions&#x20;
Three types of Actions are available
* **Actions on Entry** - These Actions are executed as soon as the Quick Reply (with branches) node is reached during a conversation.
* **Actions on Response** - These Actions are executed after the response is received from the end visitor. You can use these to save the choices made by visitor in their profile attributes.&#x20;
* **Actions on Quick Response** - If you click and expand any of the options provided, under the expanded panel you will see there are Actions on Quick Response. These actions are specifically tied to the option you have chosen. So you can use these to do perform different actions on different options chosen by the visitor.&#x20;
![](/files/-LXNkHapgvLFHNEnU7o4)
### Timeout
By default, it is set to "**Waits forever**" and the conversation is stuck until the user provides any response.&#x20;
You can also set a fixed timeout. But if you set a fixed timeout, you will also have to specify what to do when the timeout happens. (Unlike [Quick Reply](/ai-builder/nodes/collect-user-data/quick-reply) node, Quick Reply (with branches) node had no default sequence of nodes). To add a branch, you will have to click on **"On Timeout"** button to add a sequence of nodes to be executed on timeout.&#x20;
![](/files/-LXO-A9_l4BxaHnBdjGv)
{% hint style="info" %}
**On Timeout** button is only visible when a fixed wait time is set for the Quick Reply (with branches) node.&#x20;
{% endhint %}
# Redirect Users
# URL redirect
The **URL redirect** node is used to redirect the user to a new web-page. This can be used to create a guided navigation for the visitor during the conversation.&#x20;
### Fields
* **Redirect URL** - the URL of the web-page where the visitor should be redirected to.&#x20;
### Actions on Entry
These actions execute as soon as the Go to Playbook node is reached during a conversation.
# Conditional branching
The **Conditional Branching** node is to create different subsequent dialogs based on various parameters and conditions written in JavaScript.
{% hint style="warning" %}
This is an advanced node. Please consult or take help from IntelliTicks team before using this.
{% endhint %}
You can create multiple conditions. For each condition, you need to write body of a function which takes user as parameter and returns true or false. Below is the format of function.
```javascript
function(user) {
    //your logic goes here
    return true;
}
```
You need to write only body of the function(Please do not write signature of function). To refer to the complete user object with all of the fields [please check go to this link](/ai-builder/nodes#user-object).
# Go to Playbook
A **Go to Playbook** node is used to redirect the conversational flow across playbooks.&#x20;
### Fields
* **Playbook** - the playbook to which the conversational flow should move. By default, the FAQ playbook is selected.
* **Connecting Text when going to this playbook** - This is an optional text which is displayed before the flow moves to the specified playbook.
### Actions on Entry
These actions execute as soon as the Go to Playbook node is reached during a conversation.
##
# Jump to node
A **Jump** node is used to jump to any other node previously created.
### Fields
* **Jump Node ID** - the Id of the node where the conversation flow should jump to
### How to find the ID of a node
To find the Id of a node, go to the Edit panel of that node. In the Edit Panel, the id is on the Top Heading next to Node Type.&#x20;
**Example**
&#x20;In the attached picture, the value marked with red rectangle is the Id of this text node
![](/files/-LXOIfgKYq5AsOlPnZ-i)
### Actions on Entry
These actions execute as soon as the Jump node is reached during a conversation
##
# Export & Import
You can send & receive data using the JSON API node. This node helps you to REST API calls to any external service that returns a JSON response.&#x20;
{% content-ref url="/pages/-LXOMbM47CzYEjv7biRU" %}
[JSON API](/ai-builder/nodes/export-and-import/json-api)
{% endcontent-ref %}
# JSON API
The **JSON API Node** is used to send or receive data from external service using REST API and optionally create dynamic nodes based on some logic written in JavaScript, which uses the response of the API.
{% hint style="warning" %}
This is an advanced node. You need to have the knowledge of Javascript to use this node.
{% endhint %}
To create a JSON API node add the node and following the steps below.
1. Select appropriate Req Type. Currently GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE are supported.
2. Enter the URL of API. URL can contain dynamic parameters such as {{name}}, {{email}} etc and the system would replace these with actual values for each user. [Please check templatization](/ai-builder/nodes#templatization-of-the-text) for more details on available variables.
3. For POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE requests, please enter the body of the request. The body can also contain dynamic parameters similar to the above point.
4. You need to write the body of a function that takes user and response(res) as parameters and returns a list of nodes. Below is the format of the function. Currently, only JSON response is supported. `res` will be the parsed JSON object.
   ```javascript
   function(user, res) {//res is json object returned by API
       //your logic goes here
       return {
           nodes:[]
       };
   }
   ```
   You only need to write the body of the function. This function is similar to the one in Dynamic node, except that the function receives the response from the API as an extra parameter `res`
{% hint style="info" %}
Please check docs of [Dynamic node for more details](/ai-builder/nodes/add-and-send-data/custom-node).
{% endhint %}
### Examples
#### 1. Fetching data from server to show carousel dynamically
In this example we will be asking whether she wants to see the demos or guide for the chatbot, then get the relevant videos from API and show them in the chatbot in the form of carousal.&#x20;
Demo API: <https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Quick-Reply/test-data/master/demo.json>
Video guide API: <https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Quick-Reply/test-data/master/guide.json&#x20>;
Please note that the above urls are case-sensitive.
Steps to configure the
* [ ] Create a new blank playbook and Create a "Quick Reply" Node, and click on edit icon. (Please don't create "Quick Reply(with branches)" for this example).
![](/files/-MFG1nlDuzmC14WN_M74)
* [ ] In the text message area write: "What would you like to watch?". Click each option to expand it edit the names of each. Make first option as "guide", and second one as "demo"
![](/files/-MFG1zb7_T7XmdRZqlqO)
* [ ] Next we are going to save the option selected by user as a profile field. For that click on "Add action on Response", select Action as "Save as Profile Attribute" from the dropdown(can be found towards the end of dropdown), and in the Attribute text box enter `video_type`. Save everything.
![](/files/-MFG28qaScxT7ZYZEibZ)
* [ ] Next "Quick Reply", add "Json API" Node. Enter any name such as "Get Videos", Req type would be GET, Req URL would be `https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Quick-Reply/test-data/master/{{profile.video_type}}.json`. Please note that user option selected by user will be saved into video\_type, and same is used in the URL. Enter the code given below in the Res function.
![](/files/-MFG2HaU589dKosxdMrY)
```javascript
var cardNode = {
  "node_type": "CAROUSEL",
  "elements": []
};
for(var i=0;i<res.length;i++) {
    cardNode.elements.push({
        title: res[i].name,
        subtitle: res[i].description,
        image_url: res[i].image,
        buttons: [{
            link_type: "LINK",
          open_in_new_tab: true,
          title: "View video",
          url: res[i].link
        }]
    });
}
return {
    nodes:[cardNode]
};
```
Now you can test the playbook. and it would work as expected.
# Connect Users To A Human
# Notify Agent
**Notif Agent** node is used to sends alerts to human agents. Normally, if AI bots are not able to understand any visitor's provided text, it will transfer them to **Transfer** playbook which by default has a **Notif Agent** node.&#x20;
{% hint style="info" %}
A Connect with Agent nodes moves the conversation to Incoming Conversations & sends alerts on browser and mobile.
{% endhint %}
{% hint style="info" %}
When the conversation reaches this node, the automation gets paused until the timeout occurs.
{% endhint %}
### Actions&#x20;
Two types of Actions are available
* **Actions on Entry** - These Actions are executed as soon as the **Connect With Agent** node is reached during a conversation.
* **Actions on Response** - These Actions are executed if any response is received from the end visitor.&#x20;
* **Actions on Timeout** - These Actions are executed after the timeout has occurred.
### Timeout
By default, it is set to "**Waits forever**" and the conversation is stuck until the user provides any response.&#x20;
You can also set a fixed timeout. If you have set a fixed timeout, the conversation waits for the specified time before moving forward.
You can also set the timeout to "**Does not wait**". This will just alert the human agents and the conversation will move forward.
# End Automation
**End Automation** node ends the AI bot and automated conversation.
{% hint style="info" %}
The **End Automation** node impacts only the current session. If a visitor comes next time, the automated conversation will get auto-started.&#x20;
{% endhint %}
### Actions on Entry
These actions execute as soon as the End Automation node is reached during a conversation.
# Additional
# Wait
The **Wait** node does nothing. It just stops the execution of the conversational flow. It, however, comes with a timeout feature and can be used to simulate a wait time before pushing new messages to the visitor. &#x20;
{% hint style="info" %}
A wait of a **Wait** node is over if it accepts any kind of input response from the visitor. The input response could be a simple text message sent by visitor. &#x20;
{% endhint %}
### Actions&#x20;
Two types of Actions are available
* **Actions on Entry** - These Actions are executed as soon as the **User Input/Wait** node is reached during a conversation.
* **Actions on Response** - These Actions are executed after the response is received from the end visitor.&#x20;
* **Actions on Timeout** - These Actions are executed if no response is received from the end visitor and the timeout has occurred.
### Timeout
By default, it is set to "**Waits forever**" and the conversation is stuck until the user provides any response.&#x20;
You can also set a fixed timeout. If you have set a fixed timeout, the conversation will wait for the user's response for the specified time. The conversation will move forward if any of the response or the timeout event occurs.&#x20;
You can also set the timeout to "**Does not wait**". This looks weird but it can be used to do some actions without having a node.
&#x20;
# Client Javascript
The **Client Javascript Node** is used to run any custom Javascript code in the main domain of your website. It is usually used for conversion tracking, but you can use it for any other purpose as well.
{% hint style="warning" %}
This is an advanced node. You need have the knowledge of Javascript to use this node.
{% endhint %}
To create Client JS node add the node and write any javascript code you would like to run. Code can contain dynamic parameters such as {{name}}, {{email}} etc and system would replace these with actual values for each user. [Please check templatization](/ai-builder/nodes#templatization-of-the-text) for more details on available variables.
# Actions
This node is used to run actions. Some of the actions can also be added directly into certain nodes without creating separate Action node. For example In a quick reply, you might want to save the option selected by user to the profile field. This can be done via adding action on response to the quick reply node.
Below is the JSON representation of the action Node, which can be used in Dynamic Node, JSON API Node etc.
```javascript
{
  "node_type": "ACTIONS",
  "actions_on_enter": [
    //array of actions. Below is the JSON of each action
  ]
}
```
Below are the list of actions. Certain actions which depends on response(such as saving user input to a profile field) is not available on this node.
#### Add Tags
It is used to add tags to the user. Tags are displayed beside the chat panel in user's profile, sent in a daily report, can be exported to excel sheet.
Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.
```javascript
{
    "type": "ADD_TAG",
    "tags": [
      "<tag 1>",
      "<tag 2>"//multiple tags can be added
    ]
}
```
#### Send Alert
It is used to send notification to human agents. All agents who have subscribed to push notifications, will be sent notification on Mobile App and Desktop browser.
Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.
```javascript
{
    "type": "NEEDS_ATTENTION"
}
```
#### Set Profile attribute
{
    "type": "SET_ATTR",
    "attr": "key",
    "value": "value"//only string values are valid
}
```

#### Save As Profile Attribute

This is used to save user's response to a profile attribute. For example if a quick reply has 3 options A,B,C and user selects B then B will be saved to specified profile field. This action can be added on those nodes only which accepts response, such as Quick Reply, Quick Reply(with branches), Questions of Form Node, Ask Question, Date Picker, Slider etc.

Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.

```javascript
{
    "type": "SAVE_TO_ATTR",
    "attr": "key"//field to save the response
}
```

#### Remove Profile Attribute

This is used to remove a profile attribute dynamically.&#x20;

Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.

```javascript
{
    "type": "REMOVE_ATTR",
    "attr": "key" //attribute field name
}
```

#### Send Lead Email

It is used to trigger New lead email. You can set maximum delay of 900 seconds to send New lead email. If you choose the default recipients, those who have turned on New Lead notifications, will get the emails. Additionally you can also specify recipients to send the email, which will override personal preferences to receive emails.

Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.

```javascript
//to send emails to default recipients
{
    "type": "SCHEDULE_LEAD_EMAIL",
    "timeout_secs": 1,//between 0-900 seconds
    "emails": null,
    "recipient_type": "DEFAULT"
}
//to send emails to specified recipients
{
    "type": "SCHEDULE_LEAD_EMAIL",
    "timeout_secs": 1,//between 0-900 seconds
    "emails": "<comma separated list of emails>",
    "recipient_type": "SPECIFIC_EMAILS"
}
```

#### Change Input box State

It is used to enable or disable Input box for users. If Input box is disabled, a user in your website will not have the Input box to type any response, instead s/he has to select from the given options in the chat flow. Please note that Input box will remain hidden until you have added another action later in the flow to show Input box again.

![](/files/-LXOl-AKmR9lFvtlGqvN)

Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.

```javascript
{
    "type": "CHANGE_INPUT_BOX_STATE",
    "state": "HIDDEN"// can be HIDDEN or ENABLED
}
```

#### Close Chat widget

It is used to close the chat widget. You can use this action at the end of chat when user has finished the chat, and you would like him/her to view your website.

Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.

```javascript
{
    "type": "CLOSE_CHAT_WIDGET"
}
```

#### Set Temporary variable

It is used to set a temporary profile field to the user. It is not shown in user profile, reports and it gets deleted on next session. It can be used in Dynamic Node, JSON API Node or conditional branching Node.

Below is the JSON representation of this, which can be used in dynamic node or JSON API node.

```javascript
{
    "type": "ADD_CONTEXT_VAR",
    "key": "key",
    "value": "val" //Any value such as string, numbers, object, arrays are valid
}
```

#### Save As Temporary Variable

This is used to save user's response to a temporary attribute.

# FAQ Training

It allows you to train the NLP engine with your FAQs so that AI can understand user's queries and answer them automatically.

Please read the introduction in order to understand how FAQ works.

### Introduction

In the previous articles you have learned about how to create conversational flows and deploy them. There are some users who do not select given options from the flow but type some other query they might be having.

For example chatbot flow is asking them to know more about product features but user is interested in pricing. So user might type a query like "how much it would cost" or "What are the charges" etc. To automate responses of such queries, you can train the NLP engine with the sample FAQ queries. After that NLP engine will try to match the similarity of query with the training data you have provided(It does not do the exact matching). If it finds user's query closer to the training data, it would respond with the configured response automatically. Otherwise it will trigger the transfer playbook to transfer the chat to human.

### Steps to configure the FAQs

* Please go to AI builder(in left menu) -> FAQs&#x20;
* In the FAQs section you can see the currently trained queries.
* Click on "+Create FAQ" link to create a faq. Give any relevant name such as pricing, product feature etc.

{% hint style="info" %}
If your account is not enabled with FAQ feature, please contact <support@intelliticks.com>
{% endhint %}

* In the left section "if user says something similar to" enter a phrase or query user might have. Press enter to add it to the list. Similarly add multiple variations of the same query. The more variations you add, better it would work but be sure to add phrases similar to user queries without any spelling mistakes, rather than entering only keywords.
* In the right section you can provide responses to the above queries. It is discussed in the separate section below.

#### Type of responses

There are 2 type of responses

* **Simple text response**: if someone asks "is there any job opening", there can be simple text response saying "Yes! we have few openings, Please share your resume at <careers@intelliticks.com>"
* **Playbook response**: When response is not just a plain text, or list of texts but whole decision tree.

IntelliTicks allows you to add multiple responses. There can be only one playbook response and it can be the last response only.

Below is the screenshot of FAQ configuration with Playbook response.

![FAQ sample with playbook response](/files/-LwXpupvhY8uaWmcje9X)

Below is the screenshot of FAQ configuration with text response.

![FAQ sample with text response](/files/-LwXqYyHmM0kRfvsEFcb)

### Improving AI training based on real user data

Once the above is configured, AI will start answering queries based on the training data automatically. To further add more training data based on real user's interactions, you can download all queries and train the bot with unmatched queries. Below are the steps to download queries.

![Steps to download Queries](/files/-MB3B42fP_49lmToQq_J)

# Keyword Training

It allows you to train keywords for a playbook which when detected by the bot, will trigger the configured playbook to answer the user query

Please read the introduction in order to understand how FAQ works.

### Introduction

Keyword training feature allows you to configure keywords for your playbooks which will trigger the corresponding playbook when the keywords are put in the input box by the user.

For example - Let's assume you have made a playbook where the chatbot flow is giving out information about the pricing to the user. You can train that playbook with keywords such as, "pricing", "price", "cost", "costing". If any user types in a query which contains any of these words, then the **Pricing** playbook will get triggered and the configured conversation will get started with the user.

**Note** - Keyword training will have higher priority if the typed in query is recognized through both FAQ training and Keyword training.

### Steps to configure Keywords

* Go to AI builder Section after logging in to the platform
* Click on the Playbook you want to train the keywords for
* Go to the **Configure** tab
* Under the **Keyword based triggers** section, you can put in the required keywords.
* After typing in the first keyword, press **Enter** before adding another keyword.

Here's a screenshot of how it will look after you've added your keywords

![Sample Keyword training for "pricing" playbook](/files/-MY4Aw5zHHF-Andnw5_j)

You can click on the cross **(X)** to remove any keyword.

**Note** - A single keyword can only be trained in a single playbook, i.e. you cannot put the same keyword in multiple playbooks.&#x20;

You can see below the pricing playbook being triggered when the keyword "pricing" is detected by the chatbot

![](/files/-MY4DdP5V65ijMx_495B)

# Advanced

We keep working hard to get more power to the chatbot. So, we have created a powerful toolset for more advanced workflows. However, these can be used using a bit of code.&#x20;

# Advanced Actions

## Assigning Chat to a specific agent or based on rules

Using this action, you can specify the Assignee of the chat based on your business logic. To use this node, you need to follow these steps

1. Add a [Dynamic Node](/ai-builder/nodes/add-and-send-data/custom-node) in your playbook at the stage we want to initiate the assignment.
2. Add the code that creates an Action Node using the code

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/i2n2NddBf-8>" %}

#### To assign directly to a specified agent

```
return {
    actions: [
        {
             "type": "ASSIGN_AGENT",
             "assignment_type": "DIRECT",
             "assignee": <id of the agent>
        }
    ]
}
```

{% hint style="info" %}
As of now, we do not have agent ids visible in front end. So, you can request the list of agent ids from our support by writing to <support@intelliticks.com>.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

#### To assign the chat based on a rule - assign only to Online Agents

```
return {
    actions: [
        {
            "type": "ASSIGN_AGENT",
            "assignment_type": "RULE_BASED",
            "assign_rule": {
                "agent_type": [
                  "Owner",
                  "Admin",
                  "Member"
                ],
                "status": "ONLINE"
            },
            "reassign_attempt" : 2,
            "reassign_delay" : 120
        }
    ]
}
```

{% hint style="warning" %}
If the action could not find any agent matching the rule, the chat remains unassigned.
{% endhint %}

#### Assign Agent Action Node Schema

| Field Name                    | Field Type      | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          | Required                                                           |

# Different chatbot on each URLs

This page describes how you can have different chatbots on different pages of your website

### Why it is good

You may have different pages on your website for example pricing page, demo page etc. Generally it is good idea if when user is on pricing page, bot tries to start conversation by asking pricing related questions such as "Would you like to talk to use to discuss about best suitable plan for you?", Whereas if user is on demo page, bot can ask "Would you like to speak to us before scheduling the demo?". **This kind of customization would result in much higher engagement.**

### How to customize chatbot on different URLs

![Steps to customize chatbot on different URLs](/files/-MESlCCYTulodeAk7klr)

1. Login to admin panel and go to AI builder from the left Menu. (You need to have Owner role to access AI builder, and it is not visible from Mobile. You can check you role by clicking on Team menu from left side bar)
2. Create a new playbook and define its chat flow or go to existing playbook if you have already created.
3. Navigate to configure tab of the playbook.
4. Enter all URLs where you would like to have this playbook. You can choose match type as `Exactly` or `Starts With` as per your requirements.
5. Save the rules.
6. Same steps can be used to customize chatbot on all other pages of your website.

Now you can navigate to the page you have configured above(in incognito if you have already chatted with bot recently). It would trigger the playbook as per the rules configured above.

{% hint style="info" %}
On the URLs where no playbook is configured using the rules above, default playbook(having `default` tag next to it) will be triggerd.
{% endhint %}

### How to customize bot with minimum effort

You might have hundreds of pages on your website. Creating different chatbot for each page might take a lot effort. There might be a lot of pages where traffic is very low compared to other pages. We suggest the following tips to customize it smartly

1. You can have one playbook on all pages which has similar content. For that you can add multiple URLs on configure tab and/or use Starts with matching type.
2. You can have only initial 1-2 messages different on each page, while the follow up conversation can be same on all pages. To configure that, you can create a common playbook. On each page specific playbook, Add "Go to playbook" node to move to common playbook after the first few nodes.
3. You can use Google Analytics to know which URLs are being visited more frequently, and customize chatbot for the top URLs only which covers majority of traffic. You can also consider those URLs where majority of "Good leads" come using goals on Google Analytics.

Often you would like to hide the popup message which comes along with the chat button. But when user clicks on the chat button to start the chat, you want message to be present there so that user can start the interaction.

To accomplish that you need to place few additional lines of code on your website along with our standard installation script. Below are the codes

<style>
.iticks-last-container {
    display: none !important;
}
</style>
```
#### Code to hide both message and counter badge
```css
<style>
.iticks-last-container,.iticks-badge-container {
    display: none !important;
}
</style>
```
# How to show chatbot in right middle of website
Sometimes you might want to keep chatbot button on the middle right of your website, and open it from the right side when a user clicks on it. To achieve it, please paste the code given below just above the chatbot script you have added to your website.
```css
<style>
div.iticks-pop-button{top:50%!important;transform:translateY(-50%);right:5px!important}div.iticks-notif-msg{bottom:50%!important;transform:translateY(31px)}div.notif-msg-tri{top:50%!important;transform:translateY(5px)}div.iticks-frame-container{top:50%!important;transform:translateY(-50%);right:0!important}div.iticks-hidden{right:-100%!important;transition:all .5s ease-in-out!important}@media only screen and (max-device-width:700px){div.iticks-frame-container{top:auto!important;transform:translateY(0)}div.iticks-frame-container.iticks-hidden{right:-100%!important;transition:all .5s ease-in-out!important}}
</style>
```
# Start chatbot on a button click
You can link any playbook with a button on your website so that when a user clicks on a button on your website, the particular playbook is launched.
{% hint style="info" %}
[See Demo](https://webview.intelliticks.com/demo/chatbot/index.html)
{% endhint %}
For this, you will have to update certain code in your website, so that a Javascript code runs on a button click. Below are the steps for the same.
**Login**: Login to the admin panel and go to AI builder from the left menu. (To access AI builder, you must have the Owner role. You can check your role from the Team menu on the left sidebar)
**Get Playbook Id**: Select any of the web playbooks you would like to run on a button click. Hover to playbook name on the left sidebar, click on 3 dots to open Menu, and click on "Copy Id". Copy the playbook Id and note it down somewhere, it will be needed in the following steps.
**Update code on your website:** Below is the code you need to run to start the playbook. It will trigger the playbook, the message will be shown to the user as a popup next to the chat icon. Users can click on that to open the chat widget.
```javascript
iticks.call('playbook', '<playbook id>');
```
Below is the code which will trigger the playbook and open the chat widget as well.
```javascript
iticks.call('playbook', '<playbook id>');
iticks.call('show', 'maximize');
```
In the above code, you need to replace the \<playbook id> with the id copied in the 2nd step.
**Different ways to place the code on your website.**
Once you have picked the code and replaced the playbook id, below are some of the ways you can use it to run the code on button click. You can have your own way of handling click events to run the code.
1. HTML markup onclick
```markup
<button onclick="iticks.call('playbook', '<playbook id>');iticks.call('show', 'maximize');">click me</button>

OR

<div onclick="iticks.call('playbook', '<playbook id>');iticks.call('show', 'maximize');">click me</div>
```
2\. Using jQuery to add click event on the button(Assuming id of the button is **demo**, but you can use any other selector as well)
```javascript
$('#demo').click(function() {
    iticks.call('playbook', '<playbook id>');
    iticks.call('show', 'maximize');
});
```
# Facebook Retargeting
Chatbot interactions capture a lot of metrics and data of your visitor. This guide tell you how you can leverage these interactions in creating Custom Facebook Audience that you can retarget & convert
### Step 1 - Add Facebook Pixel&#x20;
Add the Facebook Pixel code to your webpages where the chatbot is live. To learn how to add the Facebook Pixel code on your website - [please refer to this link](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/964258670337005?id=1205376682832142).
### Step 2 - Add Custom Events to your Chatbot Flow
In your chatbot flow, at any stage, you can push a custom event to your Facebook Audience. And then you can use these events to create a Custom Audience that you can retarget on Facebook.&#x20;
#### How to add Custom Events in Chat Flow
* Add a [Client Javascript](/ai-builder/nodes/additional/client-javascript) Node in the chat flow.
* You can track custom events by calling the pixel's `fbq('trackCustom')` function, with your custom event name, and (optionally) a JSON object as its parameters. For more details refer to [Facebook's Documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/implementation/conversion-tracking#custom-events).
```javascript
fbq('trackCustom', 'ShareDiscount', {promotion: 'share_discount_10%'});
```
**Example:-**
Suppose an insurance company has this kind of a chatflow
![](/files/-MA0SHHZwVeEu5MFiBEJ)
After the selection, a custom event can be pushed to Facebook such as&#x20;
```bash
fbq('trackCustom', 'Health-Insurance', {gender: 'Female'});
```
So, now you can create a custom audience who is interested in Health Insurance and is a female.&#x20;
{% hint style="info" %}
&#x20;This way you can create a **highly enriched customized audience** for retargeting.&#x20;
{% endhint %}
### Step 3 - Create a Custom Audience
Follow [Facebook's guide](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/666509013483225?helpref=typeahead_suggestions\&sr=1\&query=%20custom%20audience%20from%20events) on how to create a Custom Audience using Website Events.&#x20;
![](/files/-MSBVyr3b1oEPWoz3nNn)
# Push Notification Issues
Delivery of notifications depends on lot of factors. Here we tried to list all possibilities and ways to fix it.
### On Android(native app)
Notifications are highly reliable, except when device manufacturers interfere. In an attempt to increase battery life many device manufacturers have modified the Android operating system in ways that interfere with prompt notification delivery. Please check the article in the given link to see if your device is listed and follow the fix as per your device.
